The Adverse Religious Experiences (AREs) survey is an anonymous survey to explore the ways religious experiences may harm our health and wellbeing. According to The Religious Trauma Institute, an adverse religious experience is "any experience of a religious belief, practice, or structure that undermines an individual's sense of safety or autonomy and/or negatively impacts their physical, social, emotional, relational, or psychological well-being" (2020).
This brief survey only takes around 5-15 minutes to complete, and your responses help expand the research on this topic.
The Religious Trauma Institute asks that if you have any questions about the survey to please email them at info@religioustraumainstitute.com for assistance.
